About Kilim

Kilim or Gelim is one of Persian handicrafts (Iranian handicrafts). Kilim is a kind of floor covering which is woven from fleece or goat hair. Kilim has a simple weave and is made from warp and weft threads, where each weft thread crosses the warp threads by going over one, then under the next, and so on. Traditionally, Kilims are used for covering the ground and wall or as coverlets for draught animals. However, today they are used for ornamental purposes besides traditional ones. Kilim is woven in most of Iran's regions.
