About Persian Kilim

Persian Kilim or Persian Gelim is one of Persian handicrafts (Iranian handicrafts). Persian Kilim is a kind of floor covering which is woven from fleece or goat hair. Kilim has a simple weave and is made from warp and weft threads, where each weft thread crosses the warp threads by going over one, then under the next, and so on. Traditionally, Persian kilims are used for covering the ground and wall or as coverlets for draught animals. However, today they are used for ornamental purposes besides traditional ones. Persian Kilim is woven in most of Iran's regions.
