Of extraordinary artistic magnitude and of consummate craftsmanship, this world-class, entirely singular Laver Kirman rug is a major offering. It represents the pinnacle of Persian City weaving at the middle of the 19th century. The rug's wool is first-rate, giving its surface a regal luster. The drawing of this oversize carpet is exceptionally fluid: swirling border treatments and serpentine interconnected vinery create continual subtle movement throughout the carpet's entire composition. In addition to this consummate articulation of its effusive botanical design, there is extravagant use of very uncommon, difficult-to-dye celadons and ethereal jade green hues. The depth of the blue-black indigo medallion is incredibly potent, arresting the eye and anchoring this exceptionally intricate visual program.
