Price upon request! 4' 7" x 6' 10" 140cm x 208cm Late 19th Century Proudly signed by order the renowned “Milani” in a signature cartouche in the center of its upper ivory border, this is a highly imaginative botanical rug that has been lovingly preserved in heavier pile condition. Set amidst a heavenly array of blossoming rose bushes, it presents a meandering “Tree of Life”(or ”World Tree”) with realistically rendered bark. A large, delicately drawn sparrow sits amidst the foliage at the foot of the tree with its more sharply defined counterpart perched in the upper boughs. The broad ivory border presents twelve more of these birds symbolizing creativity and productivity, each drawn with its own individual character.
