This extremely early 130-year-old Afshar tribal rug offers a unique, mesmerizing all-over design of archetypal symbolic devices and an extremely mature palette of colors. This collectible Persian rug reveals its significant age through infinite spontaneity, extraordinary fineness of weave and enigmatic, deconstructed bird, blossom and cruciform motifs. The personal creativity of a single master weaver is apparent in the carpet’s profound asymmetry, as its continually changing allover pattern joyously shifts completely off its axis in the rug’s lower section. This strongly collectible Oriental rug’s surprisingly refined weave lends a crispness and clarity that is extremely desirable.
