Fluidly outlined in a luminous Egyptian blue, its ingeniously sophisticated, lushly layered magnificent centerpiece is embraced by four generously proportioned, rose-based spandrels. The variety and profusion of flowers is astonishing. A wealth of colorways are successfully balanced; azure, canary yellow, French blue, pistachio, raspberry and smatterings of persimmon achieve a stunning choreography. The staggering amount of human energy invested to produce a sumptuous piece such as this, 120 years ago, offers a timeless perspective for a 21st century environment. Happily, this piece remains in very good pile condition.
