One of the awesomest Saruk Farahan rugs I’ve had. A simple idea: central medallion and matching corners on a Mahi patterned field. We’ve seen it thousands of times. So how do you spice it up?
Inject the most delicious natural dyes and be selectively tasteful in both placing and matching them. Imagine if the brilliant yellow was replaced with burgundy or if the medallion’s colors were reversed - the rug would then range between the banal and forgettable.
Ensure the drawing of the little motifs is clear and cleverly delineated; and that of the medallion is equally visible and legible, while being somewhat memorable too.
And that, kids, is how you craft a winner that purrs over 150 years later.
