We are in the presence of genius here. This is a very large scale garden carpet of the Gol Farang type woven by the Khamseh Confederation. Tribal rugs are rarely this big and almost never this imposing. It was most likely woven for a Khan of the tribe in the popular style of the Qajar court. 450 x 220 Circa 1870
