About Goharshad Mosque

Goharshad Mosque belongs to Timurid Era and it is located to the south of Shrine of Imam Reza (AS) in Mashhad. This mosque has been constructed in 821 A.H. to the order of Goharshad Beygom, the wife of Shahrokh Teymuri. Due to the delicacy and beauty of the tile work and the architectural style of Goharshad Mosque, it is considered as a masterpiece of Iranian architecture in Timurid Era. The architectural style of this construction is attributed to Timurid style with four porches. Goharshad Mosque has seven shabistans and four large porches. The south porch is called Maghsooreh Porch. The north porch is known as Dar us-Siyadah Porch. The east porch is called E'tekaf porch and the west one is called Sheykh Baha'uddin porch.
