About Imamzadeh Seyyed Hamzeh

Imamzadeh Seyyed Hamzeh is located in Sorkhab neighborhood, Tabriz. His full name is Abul Hassan Hamzeh ibn Hassan ibn Muhammad, who is a descendant of Imam Musa al-Kadhim by 16 intermediates. Seyyed Hamzeh passed away in 714 A.H. and the first building was constructed on his tomb by his son, Seyyed Hussein in the same year. On the entrance, a marble inscription is installed that belongs to Qajar Period and indicates that this building is constructed in 1279 A.H. This complex includes a relatively large courtyard on the south of which there is the tomb and on its east and north, there are teaching chambers and rooms of seminary students. Of ornamentation of this imamzadeh is the elegant mirror work on top of tomb of Seyyed Hamzeh which is adorned with nasta'liq script. This imamzadeh has a basement where the main tombs of Seyyed Hamzeh and his son are located.
