About Golestan Dam

Golestan Dam belongs to Timurid Era and it is located 8 kilometers to the west of Mashhad, on the Golestan River. Although this dam is over 500 years old, it is still sound and persistent. Golestan Dam is constructed where the width of the valley becomes narrower and there are huge cliffs on both sides of the valley. The main materials used in the construction of this dam are stone, brick, and mortar, which is a mixture of soil, gravel and lime. The middle part of this dam is filled with stones and mortar and its outer surface is brickwork.
