About Dar ul-Funun School

Dar ul-Funun School was constructed on Naser Khosrow Street in Tehran to with ingenuity of Amir Kabir at the time of Naseruddin Shah to train new sciences and technology. This school is regarded as the first university in the modern history of Iran. Dar ul-Funun School was officially opened with 30 students on January 10th, 1852, 13 days before killing Amir Kabir, with the presence of Naseruddin Shah and a group of Iranian and European scientists. The primary building of this school stayed for 80 years until 1929 that was destroyed and the current building was constructed instead. The current building has 2 floors and 32 classrooms. Showrooms and dining hall of the school are located on the south side. This school has had a library and a lithographic printing press.
