About Sorkheh Hesar National Park

With an area of about 9,168 hectares, Sorkheh Hesar National Park is located on the east of Tehran. It has a semi-arid climate with great changes in day and night temperature. In addition, due to its extent and height difference in various sections of the park, various plant species can be seen in this national park. The steppe vegetation in the foothills of Sorkheh Hesar National Park includes mugworts, Acantholimon, Milkvetch, and Acanthophyllum. Medicinal herbs include thymes, ziziphora and oregano. In addition, Sorkheh Hesar National Park has trees and bushes of hawthorn, black thorn and Juniperus excels. Animal wildlife of Sorkheh Hesar National Park includes animals like Capra aegagrus, rams, central Alborz ewes, deer, boar, leopard, hyaena, red fox, jackal, wildcat, badger, rabbit, Coluber schmidti, Spalerosophis d.schirazianus, Natrix, Perisan horned viper, common frog and green toad. In addition, birds like gray heron, mallard, shoveler, osprey, golden eagle, imperial eagle, sparrowhawk, vulture and falcon are found in Sorkheh Hesar National Park.
