About Atashgah Village

Atashgah Village is located 20 kilometers northwest of Karaj. Historic monuments from Sassanid and Ashkanid Eras show the archeological importance of this village. Mahdikhan Historic Hill and Do Barar Fortress that belong to Sassanid Era, sigs of the fire temple, old cemetery, red firestones, Pir-e Piran Mausoleum, and the green tree of Samagad with an age of about 2-3 thousand years are some attractions of this village and show its antiquity. From the distant past, this village has been called the Fire Mountain or the fire temple due to being located near Zoroastrians. However, some believe that there has been a great fire temple in Mahdikhan Hill in the past and Atashgah is nominated after that. In addition, others attribute the name of this village to the firestones found in this area. Atashgah is a mountainous village with great views and good climate. It is well-known for its herbal medicines in the mountains around.
