About Marnan Bridge

Marnan Bridge is one of the bridges constructed over Zayandeh Rud. The bridge was originally called Marbin which is the altered word of Mehrbin from the Avestan culture. Mehrbin refers to the area around the Fire Temple Mountain and it is referred to as Mehrbin because many centuries before Zoroaster, a Mithraic temple was visible from all surrounding villages. The Marnan Bridge has not changed relative to the Safavid era, but it has been frequently repaired. Today, the bridge has seventeen gates. However, it used to have more gates many of which are blocked today.
