About Zoroastrian Fire Temple

Zoroastrian Fire Temple is a place where the sacred fire of Zoroastrians is kept in Yazd and it is the temple for Zoroastrians who live in this city too. The main building of this fire temple is located in the middle of a big yard covered with evergreen cedar and pine trees. Image of Forouhar and stone capitals of this building have given a special beauty to it. Stone capitals and the floral stone at the foot of the walls are the art of Isfahani artists. These artists have carved the stones in Isfahan and then they have moved them to Yazd. The images of Forouhar tiles on the entrance are the art of Yazdi tile installers. Opposite to this building, there is a blue pool. It has been the feature of fire temples to be close to water. The fire in this fire temple is burning over 1500 years. The sacred fire is inside a big bronze firebox and a person called Hirbod is responsible for keep it burning. Visitors of this fire temple can watch this ever-burning fire over a glass wall.
