About Tomb of Sibawayh

Tomb of Sibawayh is located near Kazeroon Gate in Shiraz. Sibawayh was born in 140 A.H. in Bayza, located in today Sepidan County, in the environs of Fars Province. When he was 14, he moved to Basrah to study and he became a well-known philologist there. He was the first person who wrote morphology and syntax for Arabic and specified sounds in this language in such a way that Fat'hah (a), Kasrah (i) and Dammah (u) as well as nunation signs are invented by Iranian Sibawayh. Doing so, he was nominated as Syntactic Sibawayh. In 180 A.H., while travelling to Khorasan, Sibawayh became ill and passed away in Shiraz. He was buried in Baheliyeh Cemetery.
