Vahdat Dam is located 20 kilometers to the north of Sanandaj, on the Gheshlagh River. The reservoir of this dam has a length of 11 kilometers with an area of about 934 hectares. Considering the area and volume of this reservoir and different species of fish including common carps in this reservoir, recreation facilities and sailing wharf, have provided a good background for water sports and recreational fishing in this area. The reservoir of Vahdat Dam with the greenery and its surrounding forest is one of the attractions of Sanandaj.
