About Bank of Karun

Bank of Karun is one of the tourist attractions of Ahvaz. Karun is the longest river of Iran with the largest discharge. With a length of 950 Kilometers, it is the longest river, which flows inside Iran and in addition, it is the only river in Iran that part of which is navigable. The first human civilizations and major Iranian ones have been established along this river. The main branches of Karun originate from Zard-Kooh Bakhtiyari in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiyari Province. The major branch of Karun is the Dez River that joins Karun on the north of Ahvaz. Karun joins Arvand Rood on the border of Iran and Iraq and flows towards the Persian Gulf. The bights on the way of this river have made Khoozestan an unparalleled plain. Karun has been registered on the list of Iran's natural heritage.
