About Goljik Cave

Goljik Cave is located 35 km to the southwest of Zanjan in the heights overlooking Goljic Village. This grand cave that is formed by the erosion of limestone had been a shelter and housing for prehistoric humans. Inside the cave, there are traces of human life from Acheulean to Baradostian period related to 16 to 30 thousand years B.C. Tools, implements, stone blades and bones of hunted animals are found in abundance inside the cave. The most important thing about Goljic Cave is the architectural works in it that show the enclosure of living spaces, setting privacy and delimitation of ownership at that time.
