This is insane. The levels of genius needed to design & weave this 100 year old Kashan are absolutely incredible. Every time I look at a small corner I get lost in wondrous details and breathtaking motifs laid out in surreally attractive combinations. And the colors—classic Kashan natural dyes but here they seem to glimmer and glow insanely.
Glory & Greatness - the full reveal of the most beautiful Kashan paradise garden carpet. Dizzying genius indeed.
What about these sensational colors?

Serapi is a trade name used to refer to the very best Heriz carpets of a certain grade that share vital features. We can see them all here including the extra fine weave with crispness of design, the absence of dark colors and the booming cheer of the dye materials, the focus on ivory and light greens and blues, the restrained drawing with opens spaces and relaxed motifs.
Size 394 x 280
Age 1870
Please meet one of the finest and awesomest rugs in my entire collection! This is truly the stuff of (crazy) dreams.
Leaning into pre-Islamic myth and legend, we see the primordial magical VaqVaq tree with numerous talking heads of both demons and animals growing out of it. It is a complex work of remarkable symmetry in the way the tree is reflected across the central axis. The border is a sumptuous creation in its own right. Of Mishan weave, this is as fine a Malayer as you will touch.

Section of one of the oldest & finest Isfahan I’ve seen. An early Shoureshi school masterpiece on silk foundation with a rich Shah Abbas design inspired by the famous Safavid landmarks of the city.
3.5 x 2 meters
Circa 1890-1900
Weavers in Tabriz 100+ years ago did not create colorful carpets or utilise high knot counts. This majestic beauty is an exception with its flowering vase on a pedestal surrounded by Millefleurs blossoms. In perfectly mint condition, it shows us what tabrizi artists were capable of and what they indeed sporadically achieved for the benefit of the city’s rich mercantile elite in the late Qajar age. I see something like this perhaps once or twice a decade. Highly collectible & recommended.
Good morning from the Garden of Eden!

Behold. The marvel of marvels. LAGA DI LOTO, or Lotus Lake. The apotheosis of Persian carpet design of lotus flowers and arabesque vinery.
As created, woven and signed by the incomparable and legendary artist, Grand Master Dabir of Kashan.
Once in a blue moon a Kashan appears and knocks you out. How did these artists ???? years ago sustain such a remarkable legacy of masterpiece after another?
Detail from my latest antique Kashan acquisition, shimmeringly elegant in perfect condition.
What I love is the stunningly rich draughtsmanship: it’s full of motifs, full of curvilinear patterns, yet never looks crowded or congested. There’s a sublime clarity to its “rokh” or face.
Let’s not forget Serapi week is still on! This is a fantastic one from the 1870s with attractively archaic drawing, an eye catching medallion, and a sweet sky blue on the arabesques and contours. No corner medallions for maximal decorative effect!
An unexpected find—a remarkable pile woven Qashqai sofreh rug with attractive golden saffron and turquoise blue tones.
I love its outer border with a million birds and the inner one with the rainbow zigzags.

This beautiful pair of antique Kashans is coming soon to www.hadimaktabi.com. It’s available and is one of the more unusual ones my dad acquired a long long time ago.
With a very atypical crème ground and Qajar style Zilli Sultan pattern of flowering vases that are famous in Isfahan and Farahan but not Kashan.

High collectibility value
One of the richest compositions by Grand Master Mohammad Dabir Al Sanayeh in the whole wide world. A higher level of beauty & art.
Perfect & intact.
Breathtaking & inspiring.
One of the finest Mishan Malayer I have had. I like it so much I never ever showed it to anyone or even took a photo.
The color combo is immaculate, the weave is irrepressibly fine. The drawing is very neat and clear: the imposing medallion seems held up by a laurel wrath of floral sprays.
I love the elegance of the cartouche border—a 16th century style that is super rare on 19th century rugs like this.
In the jungle, the quiet jungle, the camel smiles tonight
Welcoming the mutha of all camel hair beauties, a unique combination of words and ideas, the world’s one and only, Sarab Garden Carpet.
With love,
Absolutely the finest antique Kork Kashan I have seen, with the highest percentage of silk in a Kork Kashan ever. I keep this one hidden away folks—here’s a sneak peek! And the highest knot count. An incredible beauty Circa 1925
Richness & opulence come alive in this, the most awesome Kork Kashan we sourced this year. It was a pleasure having you, enjoy your new home babe! Alf Mabrouk ya azizi w c u in the Garden of Eden
The most wonderful antique Kashan pair in my collection, and one of the top three I have ever had. Freshly in with saturated natural dyes TO DYE FOR!
Luscious, lush Kork baby lambswool of the first shearing and of the highest order. A most attractive design, rich in flowery ornament and complex in ingenious creativity.
Small details that add to the overall awesomeness: the brilliantly green Christmassy cypress tree in the middle; the unusual outermost red border guard; the in-and-out curvaceous main border; its diagonally oriented flowering vases; and the total absence of a medallion or mehrab—this is a rare instance of a pair of Kashan “Tree” carpets.

The best pair of antique Kork Kashan?
The first rainy Sunday of the year deserves something special. Something memorable. Something unique. The mother of all pickmeups.
This is the first time I post this. wonderful antique Tehran from the Qajar looms. It’s the only one with Garrus arabesque style that I’ve seen. And this makes it both special and unique.
The quality of weave is extremely fine but that of the natural dyes is out of this world. It’s amplified by the silk highlights throughout.
313 x 200
Circa 1880
Perfect condition
We are in the presence of genius here. This is a very large scale garden carpet of the Gol Farang type woven by the Khamseh Confederation. Tribal rugs are rarely this big and almost never this imposing. It was most likely woven for a Khan of the tribe in the popular style of the Qajar court.
450 x 220
Circa 1870
I’ve been distracted, distressed, and distraught for the last week. I know all of you are too. Not many, not most; -all- of you. Here’s a handsome large Serapi for distraction from the horrible state of the world. Prayers for justice and an end to oppression.
535 x 375, circa 1870
Saruk Farahan rugs have become quite hard to find in recent years. Most appear in Ghaliche format, making this stunning Zaronim a happy catch.
Vivid natural dyes and exquisite workmanship.

Welcome home baby!
Today I showcased this beauty to some friends. It’s a mesmerising and frankly alluring antique Tehran with a beautiful Mohtasham-esque border—in turquoise
Very handy and uncommon size 285 x 182 cm. Early 1900.
Perfect condition with original tassels, fringes and end kilim. Gorgeous natural dyes.
Imagine seeing two blue skies instead of one. Without going crazy!
A pair of antique Isfahan in gorgeous turquoise (feyrouzi) and perfect condition.
Circa 1920-1930
One of the two finest antique Kashans I’ve had the pleasure to own. Woven with Manchester Kork of the highest quality and with unbelievable natural dyes (the type usually seen on silk Tafazzoli type Kashans).
The all over Shah Abbas design boasts attractive lotus flowers and an elegant array of sickle leaves and floral sprays. Delicious! The crème field allows all the pink, green and blue elements to truly shine and sparkle ✨
The weaving quality is as fine as the materials used. Condition is perfect and in time capsule condition. The artwork has esteemed provenance, formerly with a leading German private collector and previously with the eminent dealer Pakzad in Hanover over 50 years ago.
385 x 313
Circa 1910-1920
Splendid antique Tehran from the Qajar looms with a spellbinding (Ferdowsi) Garden Of Eden landscape and eye catching turquoise sky blue elements. Gorgeous natural dyes throughout and a wide array of birds, beasts and flowers.

Cover star Serapi
One of the coolest and rarest we’ve had. Pretty much intact and with glorious colors, all natural!
424 x 300
Late 1800s
The midnight blue medallion comes alive with its turquoise ornaments, all offset by the undyed ivory field—yumminess!
The 1920s & 1930s in Kashan were characterised by a sublime genius in carpet design and weaving that was seldomly encountered across the last 500 years.
The awesomest Sadegh Seirafian masterpiece in the world (2/3)
Here we see the climax of Persian arabesque art, known as Eslimi. The spiralling vine scroll has reached its state of perfection, equally mathematical and aesthetic. It is based on a deep understanding of the Archimedean & Cartesian spirals discovered by Archimedes & René Descartes. And boy is it a happy sight.
